Monsoon’s Final Phase Rainfall Distribution Crucial For Kharif Acreage, Food

Uneven rainfall during the final phase of the southwest monsoon could prove crucial for kharif acreage and food inflation, a Bank of Baroda report said. Cumulative rainfall was 13% below normal as of September 4, while lower sowing of rice, oilseeds and coarse cereals and weaker reservoir levels remain concerns.
